The study of the change of world socio-cultural strategies and the prospects of their use in terms of cultural and national diversity against the backdrop of globalization is presented. The main socio-cultural models (“melting pot”, cultural pluralism and multiculturalism) are reviewed. Multiculturalism as one of the specific socio-cultural and political practices of modern society is analyzed. It is concluded that due to the inoperability of the strategy and the threat of ethnic conflicts and global social unrest it is impossible to save the model in current state. The most probable alternative is to integrate the three models, which will produce pronounced pluralism trends. It is stressed that the search for other strategies of cultural coexistence should be based on universal and democratic standards.
