Аннотация

The study of the influence of corrupt relations on the development of democracy in China during the rule of Chiang Kai-shek is presented. Modern approaches to the understanding of corruption in science are marked. The comprador bourgeoisie as an example of corruption practice in international relations is revealed. Chiang Kai-shek government activities as well as the cases of corruption between China and Western countries (especially the USA and Great Britain) are analyzed. It is stressed that the means acquired through corruption were used to the ends that contradicted China’s national interests. It is concluded that Kuomintang rule had a negative impact on the development of the democratic foundations in Chinese society and led to the establishment of the authoritarian model of governance.
