Аннотация

The variety of social practices is supplemented by waiting as a situation of idleness. Modern people face the need to fill their time while in the space of mobility: on public transport, in lines, in transit zones, etc. – one has to wait for a while before moving on. Modern forms filling in the chronotope of waiting out are determined by communication devices: mobile phones, smartphones, lap-tops, tablets, music players, etc. When people are waiting out, they are reading, listening to audio files, watching videos, playing electronic games, planning their further activities, talking on the phone, etc. – it all depends on the capabilities of the device, available communication networks and individual needs. Idle time in mobility is a new paradox of mobility, when individuals have to choose a practice. What practice is chosen? Why exactly this? What are the social consequences of these practices becoming habitual?
