The continuity of power is studied in the paper from the point of view of material conditions of power production and existence. The mechanisms of continuity are determined through the analysis of functional properties of power taking into account the fundamental role of activity in the functioning of society. Continuity is seen as a necessary property of power based on inter-generational expectations and on the ability to meet these expectations. Expectation itself is understood as a special activity.
