Abstract
The article analyses the social expectations of university students. The gap between the investigated social expectations and reality is connected with a number of contradictions. One of them is the contradiction between the declared value orientations in education (including “subject-subject relationships”, individual orientations, student-centred education) and the real educational practices. The paper correlates students’ expectations for education and the relationship with the teachers, with the level of the teachers’ social optimism. Particular attention is paid to the issue of the effective contract.
